ஒகேனக்கல் அருவி | Hogenakkal falls | Tamilnadu Tourism | 2019

Hello friends!!! The place we are going to visit today is Hogenakkal. [MUSIC] What’s special about Hogenakkal is the huge waterfall on which the Cauvery River falls. The second highlight is the coracle ride around the falls. The third highlight is the soothing oil massage for the body. The fourth highlight is the bath in the waterfall. The fifth highlight is the delicious fish meal. If you come to Hogenakkal, you can enjoy these five things. [MUSIC] Hogenakkal falls is about 47 kms from Dharmapuri. [MUSIC] Hogenakkal is a Kannada name ‘Hoge’ means smoke. ‘kal’ means rock. ‘Hogenakkal’ means smoking rock. It was called Hogenakkal because the river falls from the mountain with silky smoke on these rocks. [MUSIC] There is a parking lot to park our vehicle upon arrival at Hogenakkal. You do not need to buy a parking ticket here. The forest department at the Hogenakkal entrance from Dharmapuri charges us 70 rupees per vehicle. This includes entry fees and parking fees. [MUSIC] The first place we will visit is the coracle ride. You must first get a ticket to ride the coracle. They charge Rs.750 for a coracle ride. Up to four people can board a coracle. We will continue our journey after buying a ticket. [MUSIC] The first thing we need to do after buying the ticket is to get this life jacket. They record our name and mobile number where we get this life jacket. Wear this life jacket and get ready for the journey. Come on, let’s go. [MUSIC] We have reached this place after a short coracle ride from the place where we got the life jacket. We have to walk a short distance and then resume our coracle ride. [MUSIC] We have to go down these stairs to continue the coracle ride. [MUSIC] Our coracle ride continues… It is these rocks that you see here that determine the boundaries of the two states. The border of Tamil Nadu on the right. The border of Karnataka on the left. [MUSIC] We are now going to enter the waterfall area. At present the water level is very low. These rocks you see during the monsoon season (July & August) are flooded to the point of sinking. The water level is so low that the monsoon has not started yet. Currently there are only two places where we can see this waterfall. When you come here after the monsoon, you can see the water rolling across the rocks. [MUSIC] […The sound of the falls…] Fantastic view. It was very cold when going near the waterfall. Let me say it again … If you are so happy when only two waterfalls fall, imagine what it would be like to have fun when waterfalls fall across these rocks. [MUSIC] We have already seen two waterfalls. This is the third waterfall. This is the first time I see this waterfall so close. On my previous trip, all these rocks fell into the water. After looking at the waterfall for some distance we turned back. It is also nice to see low levels of water. [MUSIC] On the rocks behind me, we can see 20 falls in the monsoon season. It is also called the ‘Niagara Falls of India’ because it looks similar to the Niagara Falls in the United States. [MUSIC] All of these rocks you see are naturally formed. This rugged appearance of rocks is naturally formed by the speed of water. They say the rocks belong to the granite and the marble type. [MUSIC] Coracle shops are available to buy snacks and drinking water during the Coracle ride. Anything you buy is five rupees more than the cost of the item. [MUSIC] These rocks are coarse and very sharp. This sharpness is formed by the speed of water flowing over the rocks. The sharpness of these rocks is what we see not only at the base but also on the surface. All these rocks were covered when floods reached 2 lakh cubic feet last year (2018). It is amazing to think that the water level was so high and so fast. [MUSIC] We can see a coracle shop again. At the coracle shop we saw before, snacks were sold. Fruits are being sold in this shop we see now. [MUSIC] This big dune you see was just plain land before. The sand that was brought up during last year’s flooding has created a large area of sand. [MUSIC] This is the boat house of Karnataka. Mysore and Madheswara hills are the closest. Another highlight of this place is the back of the hill is a reserved forest. They say that the sandalwood smuggler Veerappan lived in the area. [MUSIC] We have traveled so far and reached an island. The water is running up to the knee level on the island.People are bathing in this clear stream. They say that up to 50 elephants come to the island to drink water. [MUSIC] Fantastic bath completed. We are going to see a cave on the way. What is special about this cave is that this cave was formed naturally by the whirlpool. Let’s see that cave. [MUSIC] The cave was naturally formed. Cave created by whirlpool. [MUSIC] The speed of this water is so amazing that it makes this huge cave. The air circulates well into the cave. Come and enjoy this cave during your visit here. [MUSIC] Our coracle ride ends here. Coracle-driver Mr.Narasimhan rounded up all the places for us. Even when we were taking a bath, he patiently waited for us. Thank you brother. This basket weighs 70 kg. It should be brought down from the top at the beginning of the journey. At the end of the trip it has to be lifted from bottom to top. The steps are not an easy one. It is very rugged. [MUSIC] Older people are better off avoiding coracle riding. The reason is that you have to walk a little farther along the rough path. Then go down the stairs. Those stairs are not safe. Climbing stairs after sailing is not safe. The stairs are of different sizes and at different heights. It can be very difficult for people with knee pain. [MACHINE NOISE] Too thirsty. Playing in the water for a long time and getting on the stairs after the coracle ride made me very thirsty. Sugarcane juice to quench thirst. [MUSIC] A lot of butterflies roam around in the squeezed cane juice. [MACHINE NOISE] [MUSIC] We are heading towards the end of our coracle ride. We’re going to get down to where we started. [MUSIC] The next place we are going to is the main falls. Tourists are allowed to bathe only between 9 AM and 5 PM. [MUSIC] On the way to the waterfall, we can see many people rubbing oil and massaging. Oil massage is done from small to adult without age difference. [MUSIC] Finished with a lovely bath. There are three sections for men’s bathing. Water falls with different force in each section. Bathing in the middle section was the experience of bathing at home. In the last section, there was the speed of the water which was impossible to stand. Bathing in these three categories gave a new experience. [MUSIC] The next thing we see in Hogenakkal is the hanging bridge. The view of the waterfall we see standing on the top of the hanging bridge is fantastic. Come on … let’s see. [MUSIC] They charge five rupees per person to see the beauty of the waterfall standing on top of the hanging bridge. Tourists are allowed only until the end of the bridge. [MUSIC] Standing at the top of the bridge, we can see the falls from the top of the hill and the men and women bathing area. [MUSIC] Next, the most important part of the Hogenakkal tourism is the fish meal. If you are a fish lover, buy fish in the local fish market and give it to the local chefs available there. The food will be ready when you finish all your fun and come back. There is amenities here to sit down and eat. The meal includes rice, fish curry, fish fry and rasam. This travel vlog completes here. I hope you like this video. If yes, Please do Like, Comment, Share & Subscribe our channel. Thank you and good bye… BYE…BYE… [MUSIC]
